Advisory Board Directive
PART ONE
Purpose, Scope, Basis and Definitions
Objective
ARTICLE 1- (1) The purpose of this directive is to establish the advisory board of TED University Psychology Department in order to ensure the cooperation between public and private sector organisations and other stakeholders and the sustainability of this cooperation and to determine the working principles.
Scope
ARTICLE 2- (1)This directive covers the principles regarding the work of the advisory board established to ensure the cooperation between TED University Psychology Department, public and private sector organisations and other stakeholders and the sustainability of this cooperation.
Basis
ARTICLE 3- (1) This directive has been prepared in accordance with paragraph (f) of Article 44 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 and the Regulation on the Establishment of Advisory Boards in Higher Education Institutions published in the Official Gazette dated 08.10.2016 and numbered 29851 by the Council of Higher Education.
Definitions
ARTICLE 4- (1) In this directive:
University TED University Unit Psychology Department Advisory Board Refers to the Advisory Board of TED University Psychology Department.

Department Advisory Board
ARTICLE 5- (1) The Department Advisory Board aims to develop the links between the relevant professional community and the programme/department and to ensure the contributions of faculty members, students and professional practitioners to the educational objectives and course content of the programme.
Determination of Board Members
ARTICLE 6 - (1) Boards should consist of 5 - 10 members and include students, alumni, faculty members (internal and external), representatives from different fields of the profession and the Head of the Department.
(2) At least one third of the members of the Board must be from outside the academics and the student representative must be elected or determined by the elected representatives.
Term of Office of the Board Members
ARTICLE 7 - (1) The term of office of the members of the Advisory Boards is limited to three years. A member whose term of office expires may be reappointed.
In the event that the members appointed to represent their institutions terminate their duties in their institutions, their board memberships shall also terminate. A new member may be elected to replace the member whose term of office has expired by following the procedure followed in the election of the new member mentioned above.
Duties of the Advisory Board
ARTICLE 8- (1) The duties of the Advisory Board are as follows:
To develop the links between the relevant professional community and the programme/department and to provide recommendations to the Unit in order to contribute to the educational objectives and course content of the programme for faculty members, students and professional practitioners,
To evaluate the opinions and suggestions developed by the advisory board in their fields and to make opinions and suggestions about the work to be done,
To evaluate the requests and suggestions from the public and private sectors, institutions, organisations, professional chambers and non-governmental organisations,
To provide support for application studies in related fields by cooperating with non-university institutions and organisations,
Updating the course curricula of the unit and advising the relevant unit managers on how to implement the practical courses,
To ensure the coordination of scientific activities such as projects, seminars, thesis studies, panels, symposiums, workshops, etc. on the subjects required by the public and private sectors in the relevant professional fields,
To carry out studies on experience transfer in order to transfer the knowledge and experience of the public and private sector to students and to increase their motivation,
To take various advisory decisions in line with national and international developments,
To present the decisions taken in the Advisory Board in a report,
Working Procedures and Principles of the Advisory Board
ARTICLE 9 - (1) It is the responsibility of the unit secretariat to keep the minutes during the meeting and to prepare the board work report.
The Advisory Board convenes at least twice a year with a written invitation made to all members by the unit secretariat upon the call of the Department Head. Board meeting dates are announced in writing by the Unit Secretariat.
The Advisory Board convenes at least twice a year, in spring and autumn semesters, upon the invitation of the Unit Secretariat to all members. Board meeting dates are announced in writing by the Board Secretariat.
However, in necessary cases, the Boards may convene extraordinarily upon the call of the Head of the Department. Board members examine the agenda determined by the Chairman of the Board and sent to them in advance, and convey their opinions and suggestions to the Chairman of the Board in writing.
Boards convene with the absolute majority of the total number of members and take decisions with the absolute majority of the participants. In case of equality of votes, the side of the Chairman of the Board shall be deemed to be in the majority.
Provisional Agenda
ARTICLE 10- (1) Temporary working agendas of the Boards shall be determined by the relevant board chairmanships. The actual agendas shall be decided by the relevant boards.
The provisional agenda and a report on the previous meeting and post-meeting developments shall be sent in writing to the members by the Chairman of the Board before the meetings.
The minutes taken during the meeting are sent in writing to the members of the board after the meeting.
The vision and mission of the University, the objectives of the relevant units, departments and programmes, course curricula and the Advisory Board Directive are sent to the external members of the Advisory Boards.
